Our Kayla Necklace is made by a cooperative of talented artisans outside Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It features five multi-length strands created from brass beads and a disc embellishment created from nickel.
The women working for this artisan group are HIV-positive and have been ostracized from society. The cooperative partners with farmers and local landowners who collect empty bullet casings. The shells are brought to the co-op, separated, sanitized, and then melted and crafted into different types of beads for creating a stunning collection of unique jewelry.
