As we leave a year that brought change and uncertainty for most, we continue to praise the Lord for his protection and provision.

Early into 2020, with the introduction of the COVID crisis, the plans and financial goals we had for the organization quickly changed. We know God has not forgotten those plans and we are confident that we will realize them in 2021. The plans have not changed – only God’s timing has and we are trusting in this truth. Read on to learn about our goals for the new year!

#1 : Counseling Center

Last year, we set out to raise funds that would allow us build the second story of our counseling building. While we quickly changed our priorities to meet the immediate needs that arose, we are more ready than ever to continue with our plans for our counseling center!

Counseling services are a huge part of our holistic care model. Many of our staff members in Rwanda have experienced some sort of trauma. Whether it was trauma from the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, hunger or homelessness, each of them need ongoing counseling services. With the first level fully funded, we would like to continue the construction of the second level so that this very important program can be expanded and that more of our women can have the emotional support needed.

#2 : Eye Care

This year, we want every Handspun Hope employee to have the opportunity to receive eye care services. This includes vision tests and glasses for those who need them. Give the gift of 20/20 vision in 2021!

#3 : Sponsorships

This past year we have been blown away by the amount of people who have become sponsors! We currently have 63 unsponsored women and by the end of this year we’ve love to see each one of them fully sponsored!

When a woman is fully sponsored, a sponsorship provides:

• Monthly salary

• Family health insurance

• Contributions for dependent children’s school fees

• Counseling services

When a woman at Handspun Hope becomes sponsored, that frees up funds to be used for other ministry needs. A sponsorship can be in any amount and it takes $150 per month to fully sponsor one woman. While the levels are set amounts, you may make a monthly donation of any amount and we will combine yours with others to create a full sponsorship for one woman.
