Safina Sweater in Ethiopian Cotton
Our Safina Sweater, hand knit from sustainable Ethiopian cotton, will make you fall in love with cooler days. The sweetly detailed bodice, simple neckline and fitted cuffs will make this a favorite for fall. Shown in Madder Root but available in any shade from our natural palette.
This sweater takes 64 hours for one woman to knit by hand. This time is not inclusive of the laborious task of creating the yarn and hand dyeing it organically. Please allow 8 weeks for the delivery of this custom-created sweater.
Named after Mama Safina who came to work for Handspun Hope in 2011. You can read more about Mama Safina and the other women working for the organization here.

Our Ethiopian cotton is sourced from a women's cooperative in Addis Ababa. There, the ladies hand spin cotton on drop spindles. The cotton is then imported into Rwanda where the women working for Handspun Hope ply and dye the yarn.
Handspun Hope is a sustainable fashion brand committed to ethically-sourced materials and minimal environmental impact.
